Advertisement Production Manager


A vacancy exists for a Dynamic Production Manager to lead the entire production facility. Grinding Techniques is a well-known manufacturer of abrasives products and part of the Tyrolit Swarovski group of companies. The successful incumbent will carry out analyses, develop concepts and successfully implement own projects. Supporting senior business management in delivering company objectives.


– Supporting departmental production management in day-to-day business
– Cooperating with various departments and the development of all necessary leadership functions
– Creation of several future-oriented concepts, including technological advancements
– Implementation of projects in a global environment, as part of a team and individually
– Preparation of analyses and reports
– Managing production costs, driving efficiencies, delivering cost effective products
– Product formulation and development to meet customer demands
– Recipe calculation and understanding of product construction principles and details
– Building Collaborative Relationships
– Advanced knowledge of South African and international safety rules as well as manufacturers responsibilities (EN and ANSI)


– Lead, coach and develop a high performing manufacturing team that meets agreed objectives and which delivers best practice results, added value and continuous improvements
– Set department objectives/KPIs and review and assess ongoing performance of direct reports
– Report on achievement of targets and identify any actions required
– Motivate and coach the team to operational success
– Provide technical expertise to the team
– Develop, implement and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) for each area of responsibility


– Preparation of the annual Manufacturing budget and forecasts and all Capital Expenditure proposals as well as ensuring compliance with legal standards. Manage the budget from identification to completion of projects
– Responsible for the input and achieving production budget and forecast


The successful applicant must have:
• Successfully completed technical education (higher technical education institute or a combination of business/technical studies).
• Advanced knowledge in Mechanical, Chemical, Technical Chemistry and Production Techniques
• Advanced knowledge in Chemical Production Techniques
• Advanced knowledge in Technical Chemistry
• Advanced knowledge in Materials Engineering
• advanced knowledge in Quality Management Systems and Tools
• 5-10 Years practical experience running / leading a manufacturing production facility within South Africa
• Interest in digitalization, automation, industry 4.0
• Strong Business Acumen
• Knowledge of all South African Labour Legislation
• Multi-National Company experience would be advantageous
• Advanced MS Office skills
• Fluent in English, other foreign languages are advantageous (German, Austrian)
• Ability to work in a team as well as individually, own initiative, high willingness to learn, appreciative interaction
• Intercultural competence, agile way of working, outstanding commitment
